Paramahansa Yogananda (1893–1952) was born Mukunda Lal Ghosh in Gorakhpur, India, trained under Sri Yukteswar, and spent thirty years teaching Kriya Yoga in the United States. He founded Self-Realization Fellowship and wrote Autobiography of a Yogi (1946), the memoir that made a yogic life story a Western classic.
