Jon Kabat-Zinn (born 1944) is a molecular biologist turned mindfulness teacher who founded the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in 1979. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) so physicians could refer patients who were not getting better on usual care. He is professor emeritus of medicine at UMass and the author of Full Catastrophe Living, Wherever You Go, There You Are, and Coming to Our Senses.
