Stephan J. Guyenet
"The neuroscientist who mapped why "just eat less" fails — and what your brain actually responds to."
Stephan J. Guyenet, PhD, is a neuroscientist who spent over a decade researching the brain circuits that control appetite and body fatness, including postdoctoral work at the University of Washington. He founded the science-communication blog Whole Health Source before turning his research into `The Hungry Brain`, published in 2017, which translates decades of neuroscience on hunger, reward, and obesity into plain language for a general audience. Guyenet has since worked as a nutrition science advisor and consultant, and continues to write and speak on the biology of eating behavior, arguing that sustainable weight management depends far more on food environment design than on willpower or any single diet.
