Og Mandino

"I will persist until I succeed."

Augustine “Og” Mandino II (1923–1996) was an American writer who turned a postwar collapse into a practice of short, rereadable vows. After serving as a World War II bombardier he drifted, drank, and nearly ended his life before a library stack of self-help books became the first new script. He sold insurance, edited Success Unlimited, and in 1968 published The Greatest Salesman in the World — a parable of ten scrolls that has sold tens of millions of copies. He is remembered less as a theorist than as a recovered person handing readers a daily loop they can actually run.

Key Ideas & Recurring Themes

The ten scrolls

Short first-person vows lived in order: begin again, greet with love, persist, act now — a character loop, not a close script.

Thirty days per scroll

Read one scroll three times a day for thirty days before opening the next. Installation beats comprehension.

I will act now

The ninth scroll is a protocol: name the delayed move, shrink it, start before the mood arrives.
