James Redfield (born 19 March 1950, Alabama) is an American writer and former therapist. After years working with abused adolescents he left the clinic in 1989 to write. He self-published The Celestine Prophecy in 1993; Warner Books acquired it and the novel became a long-running New York Times bestseller. He later wrote The Tenth Insight, The Secret of Shambhala, The Twelfth Insight, and The Celestine Vision. The usable stance is still the first book’s: treat chance as data, stop stealing attention, take the next honest step.
